Description
Are you looking to explicitly teach morphology in your classroom, but don’t know where to start? Know that prefixes and suffixes are important, but just can’t find activities that are meaningful for you and your students? These Anglo-Saxon interactive notebooks are the answer.
Phonics instruction doesn’t stop with single-syllable words. We have an obligation to continue to grow our children’s knowledge about how words work.
The answer to phonics in the upper grades is morphology. Instead of just thinking about individual sound-symbol correspondences, morphology instruction helps to unlock meaning units so that children can determine the meaning of unfamiliar words.
This product features Anglo-Saxon prefixes, suffixes, and the 3 great spelling rules. Of all the layers of English, Anglo-Saxon is the easiest to teach. The affixes tend to be the most apparent (less = without, mis = bad/wrong), and the affixes themselves are not often tricky for spelling.
These 27 interactive notepages are intended to help broaden your students’ morphological awareness. They do not need to be completed in order. Feel free to mix up the pages.
